7 Reasons to Stay at a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World

Updated: Sep 9, 2023

If you have ever had difficulty figuring out which Walt Disney World resort to choose for your vacation, you know that it’s easy to become confused and overwhelmed with over 25 resorts to select from. These onsite resorts vary in price and the categories range from value, moderate to deluxe accommodations.

So I’m often asked if staying at a deluxe resort is truly worth the extra cost. There are so many benefits to staying at a Disney deluxe resort! So much so that guests who do not consider themselves “hotel snobs” still love to take advantage of all the perks that are included with their deluxe accommodations.

Want to know why so many of my clients choose to stay at a Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort? I’ve compiled a list of the top 7 Reasons to Stay at a Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort.

#1 Convenience

If you’ve ever been to Walt Disney World, you know that getting around can take some time. After all, Walt Disney World is approximately the same size as the city of San Francisco. Making the most of your time while on your vacation should be important. Therefore, you will want to stay at a resort that allows for convenience to and from the theme parks.

Unlike most of Disney's moderate and value resorts, Disney's deluxe resorts are situated close to the theme parks and many of them are also within walking distance. Staying at a resort near the theme parks is absolutely necessary for those families who like to get to the parks early and then take a midday break before returning to the parks for the evening festivities. Plus, many accommodations have gorgeous views of the nearby theme parks. You may even catch a glimpse of the nighttime fireworks displays from the comfort of your hotel!

#2 Extended Evening Hours

Guests staying at one of Disney’s deluxe resorts will have exclusive access to extended evening hours.

These extended evening hours occur on select nights when a park will stay open 2 hours later than the official park closing time.

Of course, this exclusive perk ensures that the crowd levels will be much lower than the daytime hours. A huge benefit for many who don't enjoy heavy crowds and long lines!

#3 Luxury Designs

It’s no surprise that Disney’s deluxe resorts were designed with the most discerning travelers in mind.

Disney's designers are known for their attention to detail and this comes across in every hotel room, hotel lobby and other public spaces.

From beautiful light fixtures to soaking tubs and other distinctive design elements, Disney deluxe resorts will satisfy those who desire a luxury hotel experience.

#4 Spacious Rooms

The standard hotel rooms at Disney’s deluxe resorts are much larger than other Disney resorts so your group will have lots of room to spread out.

Plus, if you want even more space, you can upgrade to a 1, 2 or 3-bedroom villa which also includes the comforts of home like a full size kitchen and a washer/dryer.

#5 Additional Amenities

When you stay at one of Disney’s deluxe resorts, you will be able to take advantage of a number of luxury amenities.

Many of the pools at Disney’s deluxe resorts feature winding waterslides, spraygrounds, splash pads and cabana rentals. Some even offer sandy beach play areas.

A few resorts also feature onsite fitness centers, spa treatments and other luxurious amenities.

#6 Upscale Restaurants, Lounges and Character Dining

All deluxe resorts feature at least two table service restaurants and most also include signature restaurants and character dining experiences.

If you like to enjoy a nice sit-down meal to start off or end your day, you will have that convenience right at your hotel. Room service is also available at Disney’s deluxe resorts and you can often order off the menu from the hotel's restaurants.

Plus, many of the restaurants at the deluxe resorts feature views of fireworks, animals in the savanna and other beautiful scenery to enjoy while you eat.

#7 Club Level Access

For those guests looking for more luxurious amenities, all the deluxe resorts offer club level rooms and suites.

These club level accommodations come with great perks such as all-day food, snacks and beverages in the club lounge including alcoholic drinks in the afternoon/evening hours, hot breakfasts and special desserts in the evenings.

Guests who stay in a club level room or suite will also be able to take advantage of other amenities such as a dedicated concierge who can assist with restaurant reservations and other special requests.
